“Deadly Deception at Sobibor,” a documentary by filmmaker Gary Hochman, will screen Sunday. Aug. 13 at 2:30 p.m. at the The Vets Cinematheque as part of the Flicker’s Rhode Island International Film Festival. A question-and-answer session with the filmmaker will follow.

The film, narrated by Tovah Feldshuh, tells the story of the top-secret Nazi death camp called Sobibor. A 10-year investigation unearthed a Nazi cover-up of the camp in a remote forest in Poland.

Now, archeologists have uncovered what the Nazis tried to erase from history.   Unfolding as it happens, “Deadly Deception At Sobibor” takes viewers behind-the-scenes of the crime scene as the unprecedented investigation takes place.

Using live-action scenes, interviews, and 3-D animation, the documentary weaves history and science together to follow excavations by archeologists Yoram Haimi of Israel, Wojtek Mazurek of Poland, and Ivar Schute of the Netherlands to unearth evidence of the Nazi cover-up.

The screening on Sunday, Aug. 13, takes place at The Vets Cinematheque, 1 Avenue of the Arts, Providence. Ticket are $10 and can be purchased at vivenu.com/event/deadlydeceptionatsobibor-pyl90t
