H. Jack Feibelman honored as the The Miriam Hospital Person of the Year for 2013

Upon meeting Jack Feibelman, one is immediately struck by his quiet yet powerful presence. He has been described as a “modest man” who “doesn’t like the spotlight or a lot of hoopla.”

Jack was recently honored as The Miriam Hospital Person of the Year at the hospital’s annual meeting for his long history of support and leadership at the hospital. The Miriam provides high-quality care in a very personalized and compassionate setting.  He served as a member of the hospital’s board of governors from 2001 to 2007, the finance committee from 2006 to 2012, and the Foundation board of trustees since 2011.

A well-known figure in the Rhode Island business community, Jack founded A&H Mfg. Co. in 1967 to produce a new concept for displaying jewelry that revolutionized the fashion jewelry industry. Remarkably, in 2001, at the age of 82, Jack received a Master of Arts degree from Brown University. He is an active member of Temple Sinai and Temple Beth-El who has brought decades of knowledge related to philanthropy and his own generosity to both the hospital and the Jewish community. To this day, he continues to live life with quiet gusto.

“He has always shared his sharp business acumen and quickly related it to The Miriam’s finances,” said Alan H. Litwin, CPA, chair of The Miriam Hospital Foundation board of trustees and fellow finance committee member “Jack, in his quiet manner, has had an incredibly powerful influence over The Miriam and we are proud to honor him for his contributions to the hospital.”

Savit, President and CEO of the Jewish Alliance, remarked, “Jack Feibelman is one such treasured role model. I have never met anyone as simultaneously humble, compassionate and philanthropic as Jack. He is a great friend not only to me but also, more importantly, to our entire community. No one is more deserving to be The Miriam Hospital Person of the Year than Jack.”
