Greg Abate Jazz Quartet plays for Beth David fundraiser

Jazz saxophonist Greg Abate, listed among the world’s top jazz alto saxophonists by Downbeat Magazine, brings his quartet to Aqua Blue, 1 Beach St., Narragansett on June 17 at 8 p.m.

The performance is a fundraiser for Congregation Beth David of Narragansett.

Abate, who tours internationally, has recorded more than 20 albums, is a member of the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame and has played with the likes of Ray Charles.

He recorded two albums with legendary jazz saxophonist Phil Woods, who said of Greg: “I sleep a lot better knowing there are alto players like Greg! It was a joy to make music with him, and he writes good songs that are challenging."

Joining Greg at the June 17 performance is Matt DeChamplain, piano; Todd Baker, bass; and Gary Johnson, drums.

Tickets are $45. Reserved tables of four are available at $300 and include two autographed CDs; and tables of eight at $500, include four autographed CDs.
