Langevin’s statement on the death of Ariel Sharon
Washington, DC - Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) issued the following statement in response to the death of Ariel Sharon:
I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ariel Sharon, a champion of Israel and a good man I was honored to know. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, and I pray that they gain some closure now that their beloved Sharon is at peace.
The last time I saw the former Prime Minister was in his office on the eve of disengagement from Gaza. It was a bold attempt to move the region closer to peace. While that dream has not yet been realized, Sharon’s vision of a strong and secure nation for the people of Israel lives on. His contributions to Israel and the world will never be forgotten.
