Question: Are funerals allowed during holidays?

J.C.

Smithfield

Dear J.C.,

The answer is both yes and no. It really depends on the holiday. For example, you can have a funeral on Tu B’Shevat or Hanukkah, but not on Shabbat, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, or on the first and final days of the festivals of Pesach, Sukkot, and Shavuot.
