NORTH BETHESDA, M.D. – On March 16, Andrew Shapiro died at his home in North Bethesda, after a long, brave battle with Multiple System Atrophy. He leaves his wife, Sharon James Shapiro, RN, and two children, Emmalee and Evan Shapiro. Andrew was the son of Audrey and of the late Robert J. Shapiro of Cranston and the brother of Steven B. Shapiro of Milton, Massachusetts. 

Andrew received a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a juris doctor with honors from Duke University School of Law. He practiced law in Houston, Texas, and Washington, D.C., and went on to assume a leadership role as a senior vice president, healthcare, at CNA Insurance Company. 

Andy was a sports lover and particularly favored the Boston Red Sox and the Duke Blue Devils Basketball team. He was an avid golfer and an early pioneer of the Fantasy Football movement.
