NORTH KINGSTOWN — Barry N. Green, 65, died June 30. He was the husband and best friend of Merle “Magi” Green for 47 years. Born in Brooklyn, N. Y., on Sept. 2, 1942, he was the son of the late Jean (Jacobson) and Saul Green. Educated at Brooklyn College, his career spanned many years of retail management, buying and as a sales representative in the sporting goods industry. He was employed at Gargano, Appelbaum and Horan. He was known as an inspirational motivator, mentor and leader to young baseball players and their parents. “Coach Barry,” as so many generations called him at the Johnston Little League, dedicated his time, talent and love in the pursuit of happiness for everyone in learning. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Debra Jean-Laurent, and her husband, Paul, of Johnston; a son, Scott Green, and his wife, Leigh, of Somerset, Mass.; six grandchildren, Seth, Adam, Noah, Kendra, Jayson and Brayden; a brother, Michael Green of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a niece and nephew, Rebecca and Erik Green. He was the father of the late Craig Steven Green. A memorial service and shivah was held at Congregation Beth David of Narragansett.
