EDINA, Minn. — Bruce A. Paris, 56, husband, father, and friend, died June 28. He was the son of Sylvia and the late Elliot Paris. He grew up in East Providence and lived for 23 years in Foxboro, Mass., before moving to Minnesota four years ago. After undergoing quadruple bypass surgery in 1998, Mr. Paris dedicated much of the last decade to raising awareness of heart disease, most recently founding the Alliance for Heart Failure Patients (www.alliancehfp.org). He was an avid golfer and a former member of Plymouth (Mass.) Country Club. He also had a life-long passion for music. At the East Providence High School, he earned the John Philip Sousa Band Award in 1969 and later went on to serve as the student president of the URI radio station. He was one of the original ticket holders for the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival. After graduating from the University of Rhode Island in 1973, he moved to Boston, where he met his wife. He also leaves his wife of 32 years, Kathleen; his son, Stephen, of Minnesota; a sister, Bonnie, and nephews Doug and Mike. He was preceded in death by his uncle Paul.
