PROVIDENCE — Gertrude K. Franzl died June 18. She was the wife of the late Robert Franzl, Ph.D. Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Goldie (Rose) Kopech.
A graduate of Brown University, she completed her post graduate studies at Columbia University. Prior to her retirement, her career was in medical research, where she authored many professional articles.
She was a member of Congregation Sons of Jacob Synagogue.
Mrs. Franzl leaves a daughter, Lynn Contreras of California; three grandchildren, Cheryl Hernandez, William Contreras, and Richard Brizuelas; and five great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Albert, David and Irving Kopech.
Burial was in Lincoln Park Cemetery, Warwick. Contributions may be made to Congregation Sons of Jacob Synagogue, 24 Douglas Ave., Providence.
